Do the Math--Or Lose Your Chances

I've been missing in action for a while. That's because I've been working on a submission for an agent and pulling together my Mills & Boon New Voices entry. I got both tasks done in record time. I'm proud of myself, but guess what folks? I am lousy at dealing with time change numbers. I missed the deadline because I thought it was midnight their time (UK).

Won't lie. I am sad. I cried. I don't cry very often, but I was so very proud of the work and the story. What to do? I considered posting it here, but that would be silly. I want to query the editors and see if they'll take my story from the slush pile.

Meanwhile, I'm cooked and golden like a goose for the rest of the day. I think I shall pour an early glass of wine and have a tiny pity party.

Tomorrow I write again.

Oh, Christine! That's awful! I'm sorry you didn't get to enter your story. I know you've been working really hard on it. Do try and submit it anyway, okay?

Hugs!!!

Send it!!! You have nothing to lose. I think they know we "Colonials" have no sense of time.

HI Kathy: I'm okay, but I am going to sub it when the partial is ready. Today I take a break. I've been at it for 7 days straight with trying to get the request out and the chapter ready in time. So 1 day to take breath and regroup for me and then back at it.

Hi Anne: I think it was for the best. I really love the story and the characters so now I have something new to work on that will carry me forward. I'm certainly submitting it!

Making a plan of action today and taking a bit of a break as well to read and regroup.

I'm sorry, Christine! Remind me: Why do we keep doing this? ;-)

Hi Pam: We do this because we are gluttons for punishment or something. I love to write, but sometimes I wish I was writing for more than quarters LOL. But I think the reason I was so upset about missing the deadline is because I wanted people to read the story. I fell in love with it. So now it has to be finished and queried. So I guess that's why I write. I fall in love with the people in my stories. But I do wish I had more than a few CPs and contest judges reading them LOL.
