Goodness Me It Is Goodie Making Time!

December is here! It's time to make some goodies. And I've got some retro blogs with some of my favorite receipes for the holidays in them. First up? Oreo Truffles thanks to my Heart of Dixie friends at The Writing Playground.

Next? My fabulous friend Lori's mini eggnog loaf cakes. Here is the recipe:

Lori's Eggnog Mini Loaves

2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup eggnog
1/2 cup melted butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp rum extract (I couldn't find any so I used imitation and it was fine)

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. In another bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, eggnog, butter and extracts. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until moistened. Pour into three greased 5 3/4 by 3 inch by 2 inch loaf pans (I used eight smaller cute pans with neat Christmas imprints at the bottom--and they turned out great!--planning cupcakes next). Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes till a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing and putting on wire racks.

Yield's 3 loaves, or 8 mini mini loaves.

I'd love some more fun and easy recipes. What do you make every year that gives your family happy hearts?

Yummy! I'll have to try this one.

I don't have my cookbook with me right now, but I LOVE this Cheeseball recipe I got from the Harlequin sight. I believe it is called Janet Dailey's Cheeseball. I've seen different variations of the recipe before, but this one has just the right ingredients.

LOL! I know it's not fair to leave it like that, but I don't have it with me. If you can get your hands on a Petit Fours and Hot Tamales cookbook, it is listed in there.

Thanks for the recipe, Christine! I'll definitley give this a try.

Hi Tami: I will have to find that cheeseball recipe now that you've tempted my tummy with the suggestion. I don't have the PFHT cookbook -- can I order it from the blog site?

I am also making some savory goodies later on. I will share the recipes next week.

Thanks for the recipe! I love to try new ones and what better time than the holidays! My family loves whole Oreo cookies dipped in white chocolate, but I can't remember what you call them. LOL Can't wait to see what's up next. :)

Hi Melissa: We love the Oreo Truffles. My daughter gets requests for them from her friends. We dip them in white, dark and milk chocolate. Sooooooo good. And easy! The mini eggnog loaves are super yummy. I will probably make up a batch this weekend. And stay tuned for Lori's Chocolate Sambuca Cookie Recipe. I am finally sharing it this year.

Hi Carol: I'm so glad you stumbled upon my blog. I will be posting more goodie recipes and pictures soon. Meanwhile, I have zipped over to your blog. I love the story about your Christmas Getaway that didn't quite go as planned. I'll be reading your blog more often now that you are in my cyberworld :-)
