Hiatus is Coming to An End: Fun Things In Store

Hi folks! Miss me? I have been out of the blogger world for a few weeks now due to travel, the RWA National Conference, uber expensive Internet charges at the Marriott Marquis (boo), and more travel!!

Next week I plan to post my 3 blogs a week again. I can't wait to share the travel news with you as well as my experiences at the National Conference. If you want to get a sneak peek, you can take a gander over to the PETIT FOURS AND HOT TAMALES and see my post about all my conference confessions. I'm also super excited to be hosting the wonderful and gifted Margie Lawson next week. She is coming to Alabama to teach an all day workshop about EMPOWERING CHARACTERS EMOTIONS at the Southern Magic Romance Writing Chapter.

This year is turning out to be one fantastic year with wonderful debut authors and friends sharing their experiences. Stay tuned for more fabulous authors coming to visit the Veranda with their tales and stories.

I've had a great summer. I actually took time away from writing. I know. Unusual as I usually write every day. But I really needed a break. As many of you know, it has been a long and difficult spring. In addition to my daughter's mono (yay, she's cured!) and the horrific tornadoes, I've also been battling an ongoing sinus infection. I'm finally back to my normal self. "Normal" being as sane as one can expect me to be considering I write for quarters and I pay myself for "trying to get published" letters.

Now I'm starting to get pumped up about writing. Not selling. But writing. Nationals was a great way to juice up the writing genie. And being around my super friends in this business, new and long term, jazzed me even more. Plus I got to be part of other people's successes in the Golden Heart, the Rita, the Daphne and The Readers Choice Awards. Sometimes being at the game is enough. I showed up, I smiled, and I felt my old happy writing self come out of hiding.

So stay tuned! I can't wait to get back to action on Monday.

Christine,
Like you, I've been at the RWA conference and am now re-psyched about writing. I'm working on delivering requests, writing my third angel story in the Angel Trilogy and working on my romantic suspense, Sixth Sense. Next week, July 15, the same day as the Harry Potter movie release, will be the release of my second humorous supernatural e-short story, "Follow an Angel." I'm looking forward to that. I enjoyed spending time with you at the conference.

Submissions from requests at Nationals. And I'm not complaining one bit. I wish my house was cleaner. And it will be. Eventually.

Christine, I only got to see you once at conference and then you were gone. LOL! Wish I could have seen you more, but we're home again and can fix that. ;)

Wish I could go to the Margie Lawson workshop but that is #4's birthday and I owe it to her to help her celebrate her 20th in style. Love my baby! :D

Looking forward to hearing all about your travels and conference doin's.

Blessings!

Hi Ellen: I can't wait to share!!

Hi Jennifer: If I didn't have my iPhone and tweetdeck I'd have been LOST. Amazing how much we rely on the Internet.

I am jazzed about writing again.

Hi Marilyn: I had so much fun with you, too. Carnegies and Central Park with you and the GRW gang was very fun.

Glad you're pumped about writing and submitting!

Hi Jean: Yay on the requests!! And I know you all will deliver. Clean house? Who needs a clean house, right? I am still in wait mode with a guest in from out of town and regrouping/processing.

Can't wait to see you again.

Hi Pam: I think you should absolutely check it out. I can't wait to transform my writing at the Margie Lawson workshop.

And then I get to see you again :-)

Hi KarenG: It was very inspirational!! If RWA ever meets near your neck of the woods, then GO to the Conference. It is worth it!!

You'll love Margie's class. I've taken it and it's wonderful. Take copious notes. She'll probably have a handout, but take notes too.

If you're not back to normal on your writing by then, that class will inspire you to get going again.

Hi Carol: Thanks for the advice! I will bring an extra pen for sure! I did order the lecture packet as a way to prepare for the class. I'm printing them out tomorrow and taking them to the gym with me so I can read her stuff while I workout. Does that count as two quarters?

I am glad to hear that you are excited about writing again. That is always such a nice place to be!

Christine,
I'm in the same boat. It's time to get back to work. I've done the New York thing and the 4th of July week, so off to the keyboard I go. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

Hi Stephanie: I was so glad to see you as well. That Pitching holding room was insane! Very stressful. It was good to have friendly faces in there with me :-)

See you at today's meeting!

Hi Susan: I'm glad I wasn't the only one who had to lay off writing for a bit. I had too much driving, visiting and more to do even after the conference. Now we're home. This is a great time to visit the muse, be creative, and process all we've learned.

Happy Writing!

:-)
