Yes, there are the few who choose to be hoarders of success, but they are a small group compared to the masses of authors who believe we can all attain this goal. These authors believe there is room for all of us at the top. And they shift around to make space for us. The other ones? The hoarders and the petty ones? Well, they get to be in a little tiny room all by themselves and be miserable with each other.

I'm SO GLAD I am in the big room with all the wonderful authors who love to see other people open the door and walk in to the party!!!Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05383099148014297450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5523176879771875815.post-91213610885592672092011-07-23T10:05:06.513-05:002011-07-23T10:05:06.513-05:00I so agree, Christine! YES there is the occasional petty person who is jealous of everything and anyone who published before them. BUT the majority of those I’ve come across are more than willing to share their experience and lend a hand to help someone else up the ladder they are climbing.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I need to add this to my list of “what I want to be when I grow up” things to keep in mind.

TamiTami Brothershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07893437514048871731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5523176879771875815.post-39942666616239855572011-07-22T16:10:00.634-05:002011-07-22T16:10:00.634-05:00Hi KarenG: I love your online personality. We get each other :-)

Hi Maxine: I'm so glad you enjoyed my post. I hope you get to go next year. Meanwhile we have Georgia Romance Writers Moonlight & Magnolias Conference to look forward to in the autumn. I can't wait!!

Hi Linsey: Awe, thanks for the kind words. Being an unpublished author, I am humbled and awed by the amount of help and encouragement I receive from published authors. It makes me more honored to part of this wonderful world of writing. I also agree with Gwen that you do definitely have those qualities. Even as unpublished authors, we also should pay it forward as we learn and grow. My theory is that money (or fame) only amplifies one's personality, which means that once you're a pubbed author, you'll only be more magnificent. ;-)

Great list, and I couldn't agree more that RWA has some of the most generous authors--and people--around.
